We have been evicted..
It is true..
Someone didn't make sure the dates we were going to be here ...
matched the dates ORIGINALLY given to the Villa Property Managers
and they rented it out to some other Americans..
and we...
were evicted!
Now we sit in a hotel, much much closer to Rob's work ! yeah!
It is very small, and awkward :(
but...has Air conditioning! YES!!!!!!!!!!
with this bout of stomach ICK I have had for over a week,
a relief from the heat is wonderful...
This hotel also has a swimming pool
and tennis courts, so the children are rather occupied with FUN play...
and other children... :)
Here are some photos of folks from Vieux Lyon
Faces
Impressions...
The best Ice Cream in Vieux Lyon BY FAR
he even makes his own cones,
they are always fresh & crispy
and taste a bit like a cookie!
who generously threw fruit from her bountiful garden
to my children to enjoy as a snack!
Friendly faces abound in Vieux Lyon!
but that is only two blocks away, and we count him in!
cute darlings from the park!
ladies at the park, crocheting,
off to school?
talking and watching the wee ones ...
just some regular faces we've seen about...
that can cook a steak properly,
makes the BEST desserts,
and makes you think potatoes my be divine after all...
really this gal is lovely!
don't know where the girls suddenly went off too...
miss them,
but these fella's always had a lolly for the kids !
and were more than friendly!
What a delight these ladies were!
The Mime dressed up
The mime dressed down...
and his french... only a little better than ours..
than again maybe not.
His way of saying "bon soire" was to say
"I'm sorry"
so each time you leave the store
and say Au Revoir,
he would smile and say clear as can be..
"I'm sorry"
nod and smile :)
but from him we often bought our beverages,
and cookies
and always stopped to chat for a few minutes..
She would tell me how lovley my children were
how intelligent,
how well mannered,
how adorable,
she would just go on and on...
all in French...
never stopping long enough to learn how bad our french was...
we knew just enough to respond..
She only figured out we were not french on one of our last days
when Princess told her we were going back to America...
too sweet...
We shall miss her and her sweet pup..
We shall miss her and her sweet pup..
by the way, she was one of the FEW to actually clean up after her pup!
What a dear!
If you go to Cedar Blue this gal is sure to treat you well...
She always had an extra treat
and a bisous (the French kiss given in the air next to both cheeks) for the children..
She was a gem! We shall miss her
and the great food she brought to us!
Man could they play!!
We would run to grab a soda, so we could just sit and listen,
oh my daddy would love this music!!!!
I knew most of their songs because of my Dads reel to reel
of music I grew up on...
Fantastic to hear it live
on the streets of Vieux Lyon...
oh yes they too all had a wink for the Princess
and would do their best to not laugh
when Buddy would start his dancing in the street...
:)
a delightful lady
working in her fathers restaurant..
She and the children were very dear to each other
and we were crowned with the honor of being
"favorite clients"
Here is her father, the Chef of
Coco D'Or
our favorite "Afrikan" restaurant...
they specialise in things from the Island of Sechelles
in the Indian Ocean
he knows how to make things...
spicy!!!!!
so... quintessentially french..
love it!
she just walks past...
and walking... isn't the easiest thing for her...
we so enjoy smiling at her, and greeting her
each day we would see her...
Kebab place..
my personal favorite sauce
is Hassine
it's ... spicy!!!!
and my preferred Kebab is
the Kebab Galette
it's wrapped in a tortilla rather than stuffed into a pita
It also has lettuce (lots) tomato's and onions
I even converted Rob & Princess Ki from the burgers served here to this delight!
oodles of yummyness... (is that a word!?)
we don't know if that is his wife or not..
But he has the Best Thai food!
also serving Vietnamese,
and located on the famed Rue du Boeuf
who recreates the lovely masterpieces found all over the architecture of the churches
and government buildings, in miniature!
She paints on wood, and is simply gifted!
Always a smiling face and ready to help teach you
about this wonderful cultural heritage...
There are more faces, but these were some of the ones of Vieux Lyon,
that I wanted to share with you
and even more,
that we wanted to put here for our own memories...
faces we saw, some every day,
some each week...
lives that somehow or other
touched ours..
May God's grace abound here once again...
Lovely Vieux Lyon...
