Ooooo the weather outside is frightful!

but the fire is SOOOO delightful... and since we're no place to go..... Let it snow let it snow let it snow.....

Or if you are my husband, the blizzard means,

let us get our Christmas Tree!

What fun we had!

Much debating and inspecting of trees went on during last nights fabulous flurry, and we opted to hunt for a tree...

In between snow ball fights and some serious hide and seek and various other "reindeer games" we had a fun time and found a tree to BOOT!

We have a tradition to go out deep into the woods and find just the right tree, and have my darling chop the tree down with his sons while daughter and Mother stand aside and direct and encourage, and cheer on the sporty mans men.... or we hunt desperatly in suburbia for Steve Perry (no not 80's rock star) and his lot of trees... it isn't always in the same place!

This year we found Steve! He took this fun photo of us, and was a delight! (as always!) In case you too need a nice tree for Christmas this year, Steve is located at the cornfer of Randall and Algonquin Rds, by the McDonalds. (no we did NOT eat there, but came home to a nice pot of homemade Cornforth Corn Chowder ( a modified Barnes recipe ). If you want the tasty recipe check it out on Delicious, it ought to be there... If not LET me KNOW, and I will put it on asap. any how, it was a dandy dinner after a T-riffic Tree hunt!

Here are some fun photo's of the three wee little cornforth people. :) our own blessings!

catsup.... or Katchup?

So let me catch up.... Thanksgiving was wonderful! Turkey divine (not quiet, but created by divinity none the less), cranberrys the BOMB, sweet potato extrodinair, and desserts, well, a PLENTY
many things have happened since, more allergy testing, more illnesses, more sewing days!
Where are you and what have you been up to ?
Do you think it is Catsup or Ketchup, or Katchup? How do you say it at your house?

world views

World View Weekend!
What a great time! Such informative, God loving speakers. The line up was TERRIFIC!
David Barton of Wallbuilders. www.wallbuilders.com This man is wonderful, soft spoken, but he hits it home like NO tomorrow.... He knows his history better than I do, and really knows his science, enough to have been invited to speak before a congressional committee (or was it Senate?) about global warming...
David Nobel of Summit Ministries! GET HIS BOOK Knowing the Times. My dear sister in Christ Cathy bought me one and gave it to me at the conference! Can you believe how wonderful she is to me? :) Thank you Cathy!
Jason Carlson was so interesting, he spoke of his experience in the Emergent Church and what that is, who it is, and what that movement is all about... he also spoke about pagan practices being welcomed into the Western Church today, and that we should know it, and speak against it... He is a powerful speaker and I learned alot...
Todd Freil was a big suprise to me. I expected him to be all silly and have so so theology... But this man of God, was right on! He is a passionate, and yes at times humorous speaker, who Loves Jesus and really has his head on straight. I was pleasantly suprised!
Brannon Howse... as always was a delight!
The thing about these weekends is it gets you fired up.... Makes you think, and as Ravi Z says, thinking hurts, it's a muscle we don't use very much... WE really are reactionary people, we don't think about things, and when we think that we are thinking, we are often just mulling, not really thinking all the way through... Not asking logical questions, and figuring out the answers, using logic... too often we are simply emotional to the point of NOT thinking the process out.... We say we think the media is full of it, liars and slanderers, blasphemers, and manipulating... but we believe their news none the less......
Well, this weekend was powerful to us, God has used these men mightily in our home... This year we took our oldest Cole, with us, and we went with Uncle Rick and Aunt Alicia.... It was great. Cole was strongly impacted by this weekend!
If you see one in your area, I reccomend you go!
More about that LATER>>> www.worldviewweekend.org

Movie REVIEW

468banner
We don't do TV. We don't have cable. We do watch movies. :) We are rather selective, and our favorite rental place is our local library! One new movie we just viewed was FLYWHEEL. It was put out by a church, Sherwood Bible Church (I think). It is wonderful! The same church that put this out, also put out FACING THE GIANTS. They both have made it to our top family fun movies. I highly recommend this movie! (both actually) It was a wonderful tribute to God, a wonderful story of redemption, and restitution. My kids loved it! When I was asked by the children who my favorite character was, I could only reply .... GOD was! :) He was the Hero, He was ever glorified, ever present, all powerful and sovereign. You will enjoy this film!
we laughed we cried, what a wonderful story!
check out this movie, and FACING THE GIANTS.
Some time next year keep your eyes peeled for the next movie from Sherwood, called FIREPROOF!
Please keep this ministry in your prayers, what a mighty work God is doing in and through them.

new buttons

Buttons Buttons, more and more Buttons...
There are two new buttons on my side panel.
One is a moms for modesty website. I find modesty to be quite an issue in today's girls apparel. I find immodest hussy wear offensive, and I actively seek clothing that is both beautiful as well as modest. Modest doesn't have to mean frumpy. But some of the girls clothing at stores today are utterly unacceptable. This website is neat, and they even have a petition you can sign, to influence retailers into a more modest way.
The other new button is about TRUE foods. By true it is meant, NO Genetic engineering, or not Genetically modified. When you click on this link, you can also get a list of company's and products that are, and a list that are not genetically modified.

So THAT is what the new buttons are about! Be blessed!

Tagged

I have been

Tagged.

What does that mean? Well it would seem that it means that we still can be just silly girls, and play silly games. But those games sure were fun. So here goes.. I was tagged to share 8 things about lit'l ol' me... things you may not already know... i suppose.

here goes.

1. One of my children weighed 10 lbs 6 oz at birth...

2. I briefly attended Culinary Arts School...

3. I took every public speaking course offered at my College at the time, but was going for an early ed degree. Had I switched majors I would have graduated earlier... NO one bothered to tell me till after they had all my $$

4. I was once a nanny...

5. I loved Ronald Regan passionately ! I campaigned for him in my elementary school, and would defend him to anyone, anywhere, regardless of age... I wrote him personal letters about all my concerns about this country. I am still on some kind of Regan Memorial Mailing list.

6. I know virtually all of the Abba songs by heart, along with Neil Diamond, from years of brainwashing in my childhood.

7. I love to wear dresses or skirts. I home school all my kids, bake bread, cook from scratch, and never breastfed my babies who were all born by C-Section. *(this always surprises people)

8. I met my husband when I was fourteen. When he first looked at me, he thought I was the girl he'd like to marry. When I first looked at him, I thought he was terrible. I now adore my husband ! He is a man who loves God, loves me, and loves our children. He is an excellent provider, friend, and leader. There is none I would rather walk with nor follow. I have known him for more than half of my life.

So If I find 8 ladies to tag, and you read mine, just find 8 ladies & tag them to tell 8 things about themselves. This was fun... Thanks Saralyn

Vaccine Requirements for Adults ????

I don't know about this one friends.... Click on the title of this article which is a link to read the brief article and let me know your thoughts... something about this being a REQUIRED vaccination makes me feel creepy.... differing views welcomed.

I just am so utterly awed at how easily we Americans lay down our rights for the sake of a not so good medical "insurance" policy. By insurance meaning the idea of Paying at all costs to not have (fill in the blank) happen to me..... It is practically extortion! First off, these vaccines are not even guaranteed to work. Often times causing tremendous health issues even death. In no way am I saying if you want these vaccines, you shouldn't be able to get any one or all of them. But again to force people to do this is ridiculous! We are not pod people.

We are uniquely, fearfully and wonderfully made. What medicine that works amazingly in you, can kill me. So WHY are we pursuing this universalism. We must stop treating people as just a bunch of #'s, but rather as real people, with lives, and loves, family and meaning and purpose unique each to his or her very own. It's like saying peanuts can kill, so let us ban all peanuts. For some people peanuts can kill, for others, they are a joy to delight in. From Peanut butter, to roasted and salted, to a nice Reece's now and then.... For some people imitrex works wonders on their migraines, for others like myself, this drug can kill us. Penicillin is another great example, it does not work on every one. I t will save one persons life and kill an others.

These laws requiring all persons to have these vaccines are in my view a frightening violation of my basic human rights. No longer will my doctor be my partner in my health care; but some arbitrary lone figure behind some desk, somewhere in the land of bureaucracy will be my judge, jury and executioner... And they'll never see my face, never hear my plea, never know my name... Just my number....
Welcome to 1984... Very Orwellian.....

Whoopppp! eeeee!

it is not pertussis! hurray!
the dna test came back negative, we have to wait for the culture. The dr. said that usually the dna test is right on. So as of now we can carry on with life as if we do NOT have the whooping cough. hurray!
ben is still ill...
my anti anti-biotic dr. has ordered antibiotics. So I have to get that going on... I hope it helps my baby...
Praise God ! I am so thankful to the Lord for the results of the test

Hands and Feet

We are called to go out and make disciples of all nations. We are called to Love the Lord with all our heart all our soul and all our strength. We are to be Jesus to the World. We are to be His hands and His feet. Jesus touched people. With all our "personal space" today, that sort of seems weird. Jesus washed their feet, Mary anointed Jesus' feet with aromatic expensive oil. There is in these acts an intimacy I don't fully grasp. I am for the most part "personal space" nut. Jesus healed people, not only with words, not only spiritually but really, he touched them. He healed them with touch. Oh, am I supposed to do that too? Touch people, even their feet? Participate in loving His people enough to let Jesus touch them, perhaps heal, or even soothe their pain through ME? that seems a bit much. I don't know if I have that much compassion. does that sound shallow? Well, it's just honesty. Jesus is really stretching me here. And up came this class on lymphatic massage. It could be a blessing to my family for me to be trained in this. perhaps even friends.... but I don't know.... I had a million excuses (nearly). me? oh Lord, why ME? Are you sure ? ( that is such a theologically incorrect question, it is pathetic)

OK so I signed up.... It was for Thursday...

So with the big looming ? about whooping cough, I was really torn about going to the lymphatic massage class yesterday. As much as I just wanted to stay home and care for Ben, (here is my OUT) ... but I was convicted after much prayer, that this illness, like all the rest before it, is the BIG reason for taking the class. God has something here that I need to learn. so the fleece.... I submitted the Dr.'s words to my mom, sure that she'd NOT want to watch the boys, she isn't in the best health either.... but guess what! She confirmed my answer to prayer by saying she'd watch him no matter what... "just go to that class." In her firm way. :) So I went.

It was wonderful! I really enjoyed it. I learned so much, and look forward to practicing. I really feel like the Lord opened up a whole new area for me to learn and study. And it came so naturally to me. Kiah came with as she is very interested in medicine and ALL healing arts. She has a very soothing, compassionate heart, and a healing nature. She played the part of observer :) which she did rather well, taking notes, and drawing pictures.

All of the ladies present were wonderful, and the teacher Sarah Berg, was a delight. The first part of the class held in her home was lecture. Then she gave a demonstration on my friend Cathy (the lady who invited me) and then we had a lovely lunch. Pureed Vegetable soup (with chunks of broccoli, carrots, cauliflower), bread with butter, and homemade wheat free cookies (yes with CHOCOLATE chips! ).. It was lovely, and topped off with herbal teas.

From there we did massages with her instruction and observation, and then switched. We had to get it just right. It was hard to remember all the draping, and to get it "just so", so that I wouldn't breech any modesty issues. I was blessed to give a massage to my sister in law Alicia! how fun. It made it easy to give one to her, because I love her, and know about her aches and pains, and wanted to bring her some relief and healing. She returned the favor and gave me a massage. Now I must say that was wonderful! (She is actually a professional massage therapist ) So I had it better than she. :)

I am utterly exhausted, and glad to be back tending to Ben. Last night he had a terrible tummy ache, and I did some of the technique on him and he said it was all better! Wow! He went from clinging and whining and crying and clutching his belly, to jumping on his bed screaming," it feels all better Mama thank you ! Thank you mama!"

I guess I made the right choice in going. As hard as it was. I am glad I went. It was a pro-active step to start approaching these illnesses in Victory rather defeat. Don't you love when Jesus shows you that? I could have sunk into defeat, and stayed dutifully with Ben, regretting all that I was not learning that might be helping him. But instead, we had a bit of Victory! Praise God!

Keep equipping me Lord! That I might be YOUR hands and feet. Take me where you will, show me what to do, give to me the courage, and thank you for keeping your promises, like that you will never leave me nor forsake me. thank you Jesus!

Looks like a whoop, sounds like a whoop, is it THE WHOOP?

To whoop or not to whoop... That is what we wonder... as we wait...
Bens allergic cough got a bit ugly... Dr. thinks it could be, may be, might be, but then again might not be, the Whooping cough.... I had to go to the hospital to have him tested. As soon as the lady saw the prescription for the test, she backed away, sterilized her hands, handed me a mask and one for each of the children. We were then escorted to a "less" populated space to wait, and wait, we did not. Not more than 5 minutes. People ahead of us looked annoyed till they saw the masks. :) From then on anyone who came to speak to me wore a mask, and the testing went well. Ben hated it, and screamed, but was fine as soon as it was over. Well, sure he would be, they offered him applejuice. YUMMY!
Now we have carried on for the most part as if he just had a cough. We are not officially quaranteend or anything, but we are taking precautions.
How could he get it? Aren't the kids vaccinated. Ben has had this shot! But, well, now don't hold me to my stat's here but only like 80-85 % of vaccinations take. For people with poor immune systems, the chance of taking might be less. With all Ben's issues, one could hardly say he has a good immune system. :) And we seem to be having a WHOLE lot of Pertussis going around town... so we are waiting... yes waiting.
meanwhile Ben is coughing and coughing and coughing. When he isn't coughing, he seems ok...but then the cough comes, and it is awful...
more later.
I am really busy right now, busy waiting, cleaning toilets, doing laundry, and waiting....

doe ray me fa SEW la tee doe

Sew ....
a needle pulling thread.....

"did she say "sew"...?"

yes. I did. Today we had our first little gathering of new "sewing" gals... Alicia, Kiah and I all got lessons @ Oma's house today! Hurray!

We got off to a slightly late start, but that was fine. It was fun! We watched the introductory video that came with my machine, and Oma made us pause it, and go to our machines and do whatever it told us to do. With each of us having a different Brother Sewing Machine it made it a bit tricky; but NOTHING that Oma couldn't handle. :)
Oma even made snazzy sandwiches for us for lunch! It was terrific.

I was working on a straight stitch, (I am a novice, so we picked something simple) and with the straight stitch, I made 1 valence for my boys' room! :) yippee

Alicia, (I am a tad jealous) started on a beautiful apron. How gorgeous and feminine... Watching her labor away, I really thought it was a great project.. One I will have to try my hand at as well.. but not yet... I have pillows to do next. Pillows that will match the curtains in the boys' room.

Kiah, started on a Christmas stocking for her bunny rabbit. Yes, it is even lined. No one else in our whole family has a lined stocking. but for this fine creation of the Lord.... Only a lined Christmas stocking will do.

Well, I will try to buy some batteries to put in my camera, to take pictures, to download, and upload and all that jazz, to put on the blog for you to see. really.... I will. honest....

We have decided to try again for another "sewing day" next week. We are all, quite excited to learn from Oma. I think Oma enjoyed herself too...

What a blessing family and friends can be. Sometimes it feels easier to ask a stranger to teach you, or to sign up for a class somewhere. But if there is someone who loves you, someone who knows you, why not be willing to open up, and let them, beg them, to teach you. It really is a beautiful thing! It rather makes me want to sing....
Laaa -- a note to follow sew.... (this is that "note")
tea ----a drink with jam and bread..
that just makes me hungry...
it is too late to eat.....

Double Portion....

Boy O Boy am I excited about this book!

Two of my favorite lady authors have teamed up to write a book TOGETHER... With hearts turned toward God, and their lives embracing the hearth and home, I can only begin to imagine how this book will encourage it's readers.
Stacy MacDonald first grabbed my attention with her wonderful, and I MEAN wonderful book, Raising Maidens of Virtue.
Jennie Chancey actually was first brought to my notice by my son who is now 11. He read her book ( I believe it was ) Jennie B and the Pilot, it was about her Grandfather and the War. From then I was hooked to Ladies against Feminism, and many of her other writings.
It is such an encouragement to me to know these ladies are out there. I hope you click on the link to check out their new book! There is a chance to WIN it! They have 10 autographed copies... Perhaps one is for YOU

i will update as I remember it all.... Or as it is added too.
yes this is just ME, not the the kids
After years of Regular md's, I have sought out many "natural dr's"..
I have met many quacks, and many lazy MD's...
I have been blessed by the Lord with what seems a good team of doctors.
Most of which are likeminded.
One who is not but is a Loyal, excellent physican, who loves our family and that really does matter.
I have an enviromental dr, who is both my allergiest and the man in charge of my endocrine system...
I have an excellent family physican who is passionate about knowing us as a family and treating us as human beings and not numbers or cattle. He is radically different in his approach to patient care as far as I can tell, and I am excited to see how "natural" his approaches can be...
I also have a Natureopath (totally spelled wrong...) who works with my Enviromental dr.
Nutritionist also with my Enviromental dr.
I have now an enviromental dentist who costs a fortune, but realizes the severity of having metal you are allergic to in your teeth. Along with well known toxins... He is eager to rid my mouth of what ails it, and I will gladly let him as my pocket book allows
I also have a wonderful obgyn...
I used to have a great urologist, but as he is great, and i fear he will not see me, as I avoid seeing him as much as he wanted to see me.
I have a great surgeon... but I avoid him too
I have a great gastroenterologist, but opt to see those other guys instead....
Most importantly, I have the greatest of all physicans on the Job, the greatest healer, my Sustainer and Redeemer, God all Mighty, Jesus Christ, and His Holy Spirit, who comforts me always. :)
all for now

achy head

ok, ok, I have been a terrible blogger.... but it IS summer.... and i do have a head ache...
actually i have had a head ache for a month.
yes a month
I know...
it is a rather long time to have a head ache...
it isn't a migraine...
but has aura like one...
it gets worse and then better,
but it is actually ALWAYS there...
especially bad when laying down.
Life with a headache shows you your sins...
I am wretched, and PRAISE God for the redemptive work He is doing to me.
I have learned my patience is VERY conditional
and quite affected by circumstance....
I confess ...
I have learned that my kindness, and gentle tones is much like my patience.
My God however is slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness...
Headache ridden I am reminded I am NOT God and need A LOT of work...
so needless to say, off to work we go... high ho, high ho.
Headaches make thinking difficult....
I did have a CAT scan friday, ... doctors orders...
havn't heard anything yet...
you know,
I am glad that God is sovereign over even my headache,
and the doctors
and the tests.
God knows what is causing my pain
God in His sovereignty allows my pain
even works it for GOOD in me, and my life...
so if you get a headache,
thank the Lord...
and pray that I don't fail to do so too...
cus I confess
that sometimes,
I am not as thankful for things, as I ought to be... :)
any hoo,
thanks for missing me... I am back!

Book Review

ok, so I loved this book.
So Much More by Anna Sofia and Elizabeth Botkin
I recommend it HIGHLY! It has altered my perception of things, and cleared up quite a few matters in my mind.
You see, I have a little girl.. I want to train her up rightly in the ways of the Lord, and want to learn as much about biblical femininity as possible. So I read books on this. So I too might be transformed by the renewing of my mind, that I might be a better mother.. The book was written by two teen aged sisters, to other young ladies. My young lady is still a bit too young, but she'll read it later. Get this book. Read it, pray about it. If you have a daughter, buy it for her and read it together. I know of one family where the father read it aloud to the family, and they enjoyed it very much that way. It is fabulous.
Sara, and Alicia read it too, they LOVED it as well.... great read! really, it will ROCK your world.
be blessed!

Whoopsy Daisy!

We go north over Memorial Day weekend... We go way up north, and we go with family. We stay in cabins and it is delightful, restful, and campy in a lovely way. We stay in cabins like civilized people, cabins with bathrooms and kitchens and fireplaces and big back porches that overlook a lake, with hanging beds in them. We really live it up! But we fish, and have campfires, and get a bit rustic, just not too rustic... It is fun.

Over the past Memorial weekend, my mother, known to some of you as THE "domestic godess" (lower g, not to be worshipped), taught me to crochet! I love it. I have completed one beautiful scarf in a gorgeous red, and have started an Afghan.
A word about being a beginner and starting out on such a big project.... think long, and think hard...
My big blanket, is 300 stitches long. I made a big mistake and didn't notice till I was about 8 rows past.... that would be about 2400 stitches I had to undo... Probably more, because I am guessing here It might have been more rows... It is depressing. So today I undid all the rows to get to the mistake. It was over 1/2 the blanket ( I am new at this).... It was sad to undo all that hard work.... But it got me thinking about my walk with Jesus.
When we mess up, sin, hurt someone, or make a mistake, as Christians, we can't just keep going. We haven't the luxury to blow past and pretend the whoopsy daisy didn't happen. We must stop, and go back and do our best to make it right again, to make restitution, or at the Very least, apologize and ask for forgiveness. We simply MUST go back to that spot and do our best in Christ Jesus to make it better.... and go on from there. It's hard to do. It is hard to unravel all that work, just like it can be hard to go to a friend a year after a spat, and say, there was a mistake, here, some sin got entangled, can we go back, can we stitch this right??? We must because we bare the name of Christ. We are Christ followers. If we want to understand why we are sinful, we must go back to the beginning of man, and look to that garden, and remember the sin. Life doesn't have a do over button, it can't be unraveled like my blanket, but we can, we must go back to the beginning. God went back to the beginning, in the garden, where it all began, and He NEVER forgot the promise He made... Jesus was in the beginning. He was the promise, the red thread that would weave our mistake into something glorious for God glory!
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.....If it weren't for the mistake, or frankly the sin, He needn't have come. But He came, He taught, loved, healed, He died for my sins, to restore me to Himself, to reconcile me, He rose, conquering death and hell, victorious, and it is amazing to live in that grace, in that mercy...
I am so glad I can go back and acknowledge my mistakes, acknowledge my sins, confess them, and weave, knit or crochet it new with Jesus...i don't need to pretend I have it all together, that I am perfect...Jesus holds it all together, He is able, and He is perfect... I am so thankful for all He is doing in me, through me, to me, and my family! You see, I can't pretend I didn't make a mistake in that blanket, because the more rows I do, the more noticeable it is. Eventually even you would see it, even someone who doesn't crochet would see it, and you would notice, and I would KNOW it, and I would hate that blanket, and all my work.... Because I would know I could have made it right, but didn't.... It would undo me...

What about you? Whats undoing you? What do you need to undo?

Behind in the garden

way behind with blogging. I beg your pardon... Life took over these past few months. Kiah has been ill, and I have been as well. Praise the Lord, we are on the road to recovery and thankful as could be....!

Today the weather is a bit dreary, I love it. It is the clean up the house, and curl up to read sort of a day; a let the Lord water the lawn and garden while I snuggle up with the kids sort of day... except that, they aren't cooperating... oh well, I still enjoy these rainy days, they sprout the seeds in my garden, and grow my plants bigger and lusher than I ever can with a watering can, or hose....

Gardens, do you garden? I love to garden. My front garden is delightful this year... My back garden is desperately in need of time, attention, and diligent weeding... oi vey! weeds have taken over! I just couldn't get to it in early spring, having been ill and all, and if you don't tend to it in march, April is hard, and if you don't tend to it in April, may is a bear, and we just passed through may, and let me tell you, it's like a JUNGLE back there.... frightening really..... truly, I KID YOU NOT!

But my front garden, it is .... delightful really. Several years ago we attempted to plant the front garden with seeds and roses... Rose bush after rose bush died, one barely survived. Each year the clump of plants grown from seed was barely noticeable , yet this year, this year the garden has come alive! The rose bush is strong, and vibrant with brilliant dark red blooms! very hardy, the daisies, 4 or five clumps are substantial, and I am eagerly awaiting the first blossom to open! The holly hock has buds and looks robust! The German chamomile looks so lacy and delicate and delicious, words can not express my enthusiasm! With a saliva addition, and some other cheerful new plants and a few annuals, it is as cheery as can bee! oh goodness and the morning glory is coming up, and the moon flowers are coming out of the ground, and the red trumpet ones too! Each day a little taller, a little fuller, I do so look forward to when they twine around the porch and up the trellis and make the house come alive with their presence, and delicious colors and scents! oh lovely gardens!

That the back might too come alive still.....

Kiah has successfully breed ed her butterfly's and now has 6 healthy caterpillars!

Cole's new arrivals are 2 tadpoles, soon to be leopard frogs.....

Ben is Ben, he is two, he is busy, he is not Benjamin, but Ben as he will tell you if you ask... Ben has a whole lot to say, he still speaks two languages, and still interchanges the two languages making mommy comprehension difficult at moments.... But between English and Baby we usually understand him ok, others, not so much, but our family is getting better at "getting it'. He is awfully serious when talking to people though... it is rather amusing.

Soccer season is coming to an end... Kiah looks forward to another year, Cole has decided it is not the sport for him... Ben likes EVERY sport.... but Ben is two...

Rob is immensely busy with work. His mind is occupied with the project he is on and studying the word of God... And so life is good... God is Great!

Illness..... that is another entry all together.

Separation of Church & State ~ what is that all about?

A religion is a set of beliefs....Therefore religion is being taught in schools...
Just maybe not yours.
Or mine.
all religions can be wrong, but not all religions can be right.
The founders of major religions were all searching for the truth.
Jesus claimed to be the Truth
non of the founders of major religions claimed sinlessness or perfections
Jesus was and is perfect and without sin.
They claimed to have found "a way"
Jesus said He was "the WAY"
They are all dead
Jesus is Life, and is alive!
*
In regards to foundations of this country...and discussion of separation of church and state
*
Many of the Founders of this country were the Christian Leaders of their day
*
Rev. D. John Witherspoon was responsible for two American translations of the Bible (including our first family Bible)
*
Charles Thompson was responsible for Thompson's Bible
*
Ben Rush not only published the 1st mass produced Bible in America, but founded our first Bible society & the Sunday School movement
*
Francis Hopkins produced the 1st American Hymnbook
*
John Langdon and Charles Cotesworth Pickney founded the Amercian Bible Society
*
Rufas King founded the New York Bible and Common Prayer Book Society.
*
James McHenry founded the Maryland Bible Society
*
Alexander Hamilton formed the Christian Constitutional Society to elect people to office who would support Christianity and the Constitution
*
John Adams wrote to Thomas Jefferson on 6/28/1813 "The general principles on-which the fathers achieved independence were...the general principles of Christianity...I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God."
*
Thomas Jefferson in 1774, while serving in the Virginia Assembly, personally introduced a resolution calling for a day of fasting and prayer. Later, while serving as the governor of Virginia (1889-81), Jefferson decreed a day of "Public and solemn thanksgiving and prayer to the Almighty God."
*
John Jay was the original chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court and one of the men most responsible for the Constitution, wrote, "Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty- as well as the privilege and interest- of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers."
*
George Washington in his Farewell Address argued for the vital role of religion and morality in-our nation: "Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillers." And he also said this! "without such a firm foundation liberties and freedoms were at risk: Let is simply be asked "Where is the security for life, for reputation, and for property if the sense of religious obligation desert?'"
*
7/28/1787 At Constitutional Convention, Ben Franklin "If a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We've been assured in the sacred writing 'Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it.'"
***
It is so unfortunate that so many Americans get their education from the TV and movies. The term "separation of Church and state " is not in the U.S. Constitution. LOOK for it you will never find it. you will however find it in the constitution of the former Soviet Union.
As known here It originated from a letter that Thomas Jefferson wrote on New Year's Day in 1802 to the Danbury Baptist Association.
They had shared with Jefferson their fear that the government might establish a state church...(This was very common through out Europe ) To clarify intent to these clergyman that the First Amendment prohibits the U.S. Congress from establishing a state church, he declared that a 'wall of separation between church and state should be maintained' in order to keep the government from interfering with the free exercise of religion. "I contemplate with solemn reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise,' thus building a wall of separation of Church and State."
*
The law is intended to place the restrictions on the GOVERNMENT, NOT upon the people.
*
1801 Jefferson wrote " The Christian Religion, when divested of the rags in which they (the clergy ) have enveloped it, and brought to the original purity and simplicity of its benevolent institutor, is a religion of all others most friendly to liberty , science, and the freest expansion of the human mind."
*
Every person has a set of beliefs. Therefore even the athiest is religious. Unfortunately people are not quick at understanding this.
*
Technically RELIGION is being taught in school, just maybe not yours or mine. But religion is indeed being taught.
To avoid "Christianity" in the schools is to avoid the foundation of traditional education in America. I was reading recently how a teacher was banned from reading the Constitution in it's entirety to his class, because of the "religious undertones". How can one understand Shake-spear in his fullest without having studied KJV? It is the foundation which the house stands upon. Imagine a house, this house might be your family, but lets for now consider this house to be society.
*
Ours (America) was the great experiment. It was the only time in history that a government was founded upon Christian Principles. EVER. Yes, many nations had Christians in them, claimed to fight for the cause of Christ etc. But when looking at the facts, one will see, this was not their foundation.
*
Our Foundation was solid enough to last much longer than any imagined it would. This year actually marks 400 years since the founding of Jamestown. Our founding fathers built this country upon a rock.
*
Today america sleeps, she sleeps in her own bubble, media driven, shattered family's, too busy to tired to notice. Much of the "society" living off of sound bites they heard on the news, and lenghthy commentary offered by very "religious" people who may not hold their same views even, but again, America is exhausted, or busy, or just looking to be entertained.
*
And so a new "enlightenment" emerges. And chisels away at the foundation, stealing it away. America, "pumps up the volume" to ignore the sound. The enemy then continues more boldly, and begins to hang about the house working night and day, recruiting the children of the house, and it is ok, because the talk is fast, and hey it looks like a good thing. "Restructuring" and all that. America is too tired to think. She doesn't seem to remember how much that house cost to build. How many lives, how much blood was spilt to pay off that mortgage....She's gone in to debt, fixin' it up, making it pretty. The back fill to replace the the rock being mined from beneath our little house is sand and gravel. The babies are playing in it. The kids think it'll be like living on the beach. The people who remember what it was like before, have been stuffed away in homes, and referred to as "out of it", "not with the times".
*
Foundation, it matters, the house built upon sand will not STAND.
There is nothing new under the sun.
*
My point is not that we should teach all religions in school. Or that we should teach merely one. My point in this is that we need to wake up to the fact that Religion is being taught, there is no way to avoid it. Which one is the question, and do you want it being taught? The question is a humorous one.
*
The ignorance on the topic of separation of Church and state is sad and rather humorous too. Because people will fight for it, but it never existed, it is being created. And that is very dangerous. Grab a cup of Joe, put on your thinking cap, and lets hunt down the truth of the matter.
*
"What is truth" you wonder. Pilot wondered this too.
Jesus is the Truth
&
Truth is "fidelity to the original".

Just A Mom? written by i don't know who.....

this was passed on to me, and I really really loved it. Thought I would post it here for you all to enjoy too!
be blessed
<><>

JUST A MOM?
A woman, renewing her driver's license at the County Clerk 's office
was asked by the woman recorder to state her occupation.
She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.

"What I mean is," explained the recorder,
"do you have a job or are you just a......?"
"Of course I have a job," snapped the woman.

"I'm a Mom."
"We don't list 'Mom' as an occupation, 'housewife' covers it,"
said the recorder emphatically.

I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself in the
same situation, this time at our own Town Hall.
The Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised,
efficient and possessed of a high sounding title like,
"Official Interrogator" or "Town Registrar."

"What is your occupation?" she probed.
What made me say it?
I do not know.
The words simply popped out.
"I'm a Research Associate in the field of
Child Development and Human Relations."
The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair and
looked up as though she had not heard right.

I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words.
Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was written,
in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire.
"Might I ask," said the clerk with new interest,
"just what you do in your field?"
Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice,
I heard myself reply,
"I have a continuing program of research,
[what mother doesn't)
in the laboratory and in the field,
(normally I would have said indoors and out).
I'm working for my Masters, (first the Lord and then the whole
family)
and already have four credits (all daughters).
Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the humanities,
(any mother care to disagree?)
and I often work 14 hours a day, (24 is more like it).
But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers and
the rewards are
more of a satisfaction rather than just money."
There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice
as she completed the form, stood up and personally ushered
me to the door.
As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career, I
was greeted by my lab assistants -- ages 13, 7, and 3.
Upstairs I could hear our new experimental model,
(a 6 month old baby) in the child development program,
testing out a new vocal pattern.
I felt I had scored a beat on bureaucracy!
And I had gone on the official records as someone more distinguished
and indispensable to mankind than
"just another Mom." Motherhood!

What a glorious career!
Especially when there's a title on the door.

Does this make grandmothers
"Senior Research associates in the field of
Child Development and Human Relations"
and great grandmothers
"Executive Senior Research Associates"?
I think so!!!
I also think it makes Aunts
"Associate Research Assistants".

Liberty Days Jamestown 2007 400years since Captain JOHN SMITH set foot upon North America!

Ok, we had such a blast last year when we went!
Hope to see you there too!!!
So Mark YOUR Calendars
Conference 2007 - Jamestown
February 23-24, 2007
Arlington Heights, Illinois
*
2007 marks the first time that an American event will celebrate it’s quadricentennial anniversary!
400 years have passed since Captain John Smith and company set foot upon the North American shores and named their settlement Jamestown - the first English colony successfully established on the shores of the New World, and the birthplace of American liberty. Much can be learned and loved as we study the providences of God, the establishment of the Christian foundations for our legal system, the men God used to secure this Christian foothold in America, and so much more!
*
What was the state of affairs in Europe that gave rise to the English colonization of America?
How was John Smith uniquely prepared for this challenging endeavor?
What principles of life and government that we consider “American” today were established at the Jamestown settlement?
Were the native Indians the most feared enemies of the colonists?
What is the true story and historical significance of the young Indian maid, Pocahontas?
What do we and our children need to learn from all this that will help prepare us and them for the tumultuous times that we live in?

*
*
Come hear the history and the legends brought to life on their 400th anniversary!
Learn from historians Doug Phillips and Bill Potte rjust why it is so important for us to remember them!

Waiting, waiting I don't like waiting

Ever get the idea that God REALLY wants to teach you something?
I feel like an Israelite, wandering in the desert, year 24. Ugh. Waiting on so many things here at our house. Waiting for the winter plague to exit completely. Waiting for doctors to call, waiting for test results, waiting to see children get it, and obey, maybe like the very first time. Waiting for the stock to cook down, waiting for the head ache to go away. Waiting for my wonderful husband to remember to bring home a new vaccume belt for we are having company TONIGHT, and it began dumping what was in the vaccume out unto the already messy (thank you Dear Benjamin) carpeting....

"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barn, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?"

Ok, Lord, but I sure would like to have the doctor call....
Why do I get anxious over blood tests, what is it in me that still fails in trusting Him? Because ultimately that is what my anxiety is.
My heart, my head, my soul knows completely that I can trust God with all that I am, all that is.....That dang flesh though.....
I can not express how thankful I am to have the blood of Jesus cover me, wash away my sin....my moments of unbelief....Something deep in my dna is so ugly,so hidden I dare not look... it's that sin thing again...that original sin givin to me, passed down through the ages from Adam and his bride Eve....It's in my dna.....I sin because, well I am a sinner...
Some people don't, won't, can't or shan't understand this....But I once was blind, now I see, I am the wretch the song refers to.
Isn't God Great! Praise the Lord, indeed praise the Lord!benjamin) carpet....WAITING seems to be a theme.

Kick in the Teeth

Not quite, but nearly...My bridge cracked and keeps falling out of my mouth...So this is what it feels like to be 95..... So I had planned to see my dentist, when the other side of my mouth hurt so bad, I thought I'd rip the tooth out myself! Well, I sure got to the dentist, bless my husband for taking me. Oh, only need a root canal in that one. It hurts to chew on either side of my mouth, and I'm thankful for the little bit of pain reliever the doctor prescribed!

What a week! This very Monday coming up our weee little Ben will turn two! And with all my tooth ache ick, following The HOLIDAY's, I have already blown my resolution to invite my family in a more timely manner to such events; and spent much of the day figuring' out who I'd invited so far, and who I hadn't...I remembered one more just now...Oi Vey, I should make a list and type it up and have it on .... I should mail it to myself! I don't mean to not think of things, I do actually think of each of the people, each thing, I just don't remember to act on them. Like as if I've had the conversation in my head with everyone, they just haven't been privy to it...Really MUST work on this. Another "95" moment...

We are praying here for my aunt who had heart surgery this week, and from what I hear is recovering well at the moment. Her daughter's father in law passed away the same day as my aunt's heart attack, so much prayer for that sweet cousin and her family. What a rough week for them! I can't imagine how tough that must be. Well, may the Lord draw them near to Himself through this struggle. He is indeed sovereign over all, and all He sees to allow will be worked out for good, for those who love Him and are called according to His Purpose...I just hope they all are! In fact if you've just bumped into my blog, and don't know what I'm talking about click the link here on the side and take the Good Test!

Any how, Isn't family wonderful. I love mine. I love my husbands. I love ours. My Aunt is wonderful. Her name is Marie, and she is my father's elder sister. She is looking forward to her Son and daughter in law's twin babies to be born. I pray she is healthy and well when they arrive. Strong enough to hold them, and love on them. She is so very excited about these babies. She has two beautiful granddaughters by her daughter, my cousin Karen. And they are little pistols, I just so enjoy them! But these babies will be the first from her son. Really it is exciting to see the generations span isn't it?

Children are a heritage from the Lord. My prayer, which I am reminded of when I look at the generational span, is this... That two hundred or more years (baring the Lord's return, yes I believe in that) from now, our descendants will claim my husbands name and my own, as the beginning of a heritage for the Lord. That like Johnathan Edwards, righteousness would be fostered in our seed, and they would pass it down, as God commands one generation, unto the next. Discipling their children as unto the Lord. And that while it's beginning is here, with Rob and I, that it may continue, for centuries, only gaining momentum, stretching farther, richer, deeper, for Christ, and His KINGDOM...

Family, is just another amazing Creation of the LORD's. Fallen it may be... but redeemable in Christ.
May all those in my family, and all those in your family, know Christ Jesus, have a saving faith, and be sanctified each day...growing in the grace and mercy of the Lord. We praise God for those who have come thus far, and we praise God for those whom He is bringing, that we know not of yet...

God is good, amazing, righteous, redemptive, glorious, almighty, everlasting, creative, humble, sovereign, glorious, peaceful, truth, light, life, faithful, just, pure, holy, holy, holy, blessed, King of kings, Lord of Lords, infinite, personal, beginning, the end, great, beautiful, merciful, graceful, the only way....

you are loved... did you know that?

Ideas...

Does your mind ever reel with ideas? Ever think them thru to see if they are plausible, even possible Ever let your mind run with one, and see where it might go? Ever start researching to see what might come of it? Ever start telling someone and watch their eyes glaze over, note the way they tilt their head just so, as if to help the idea into their brain, because sitting upright wasn't quite doing the trick? Ever? Have you ever just had the wind blown right out of your sails?
Better still have you ever had someone fan the flame of your idea? Ever watch their eyes light up with more possiblilities, ideas that you hadn't even thought of yet? Ever feel the excitement of idea received? Ever ?
Ideas.... got any?

Old Articles....New Years Resolution

Greetings!
Praise the Lord for such a glorious Christmas Season!
I love Christmas! I am each new year in awe of how Christ Jesus came to us. The humility, the simplicity, the peace of it. And with New Year right after, and it's hyped up "resolution's" it causes me to pause. I have a great distaste for NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS> not resolutions in and of themselves. No indeed. Just the ones that are tagged on to the new year. There is no great reason why, I just don't think I like that much pressure. But back to how it causes me to think...Have I been humble? Have I been simply living, and following Christ? Have I been an active part of peace building in my home? ugh, a resounding NO,... sometimes, ....not enough to count! :(

And so, as things go, follow with me on this....we went to the library. What joy what bliss! I love the library, I especially love to go with my wonderful husband (he's a big guy, and quite strong enough to carry all those books, which means I can get a few more than usual, for I haven't got to carry ALL of them :) God is Great and Greatly to be praised! and for more than Rob coming with. My husband's presence at the library means also, that I can go down stairs, and search for a book for ME to read, with out sweaty irritated little people who cry about holding jackets hovering about me. And so I got a book, by an author I thus far have enjoyed. :)
Upon arriving home (Rob was so worn out carrying the books, he seemed to wonder how ever I do it with out him. I wonder too.) And I have been reading this book ever since. And not to be redundant, but God is Great, and Greatly to be praised, for the book deals with exactly my afore mentioned problems.
I am not continuous in my humble loving, patient, simple earnest ways. And I can be .....oh pray don't mention in the halls of church....I can be critical....sometimes. ugh. It isn't something I like about myself...Maybe it's the letter "Y" that the children just are not getting to come down and over without hooking northbound with a fury. Maybe it's the inability to eat over a plate and all the crumbs under the table, that I just need to get over. Its not supposed to be about me; it is supposed to be about MY LORD and SAVIOR, right??
Should I not be singing praise, and joyfully sweep the mess, as unto the Lord? Well let it be known He hath rebuked me. Listen to this...
"Creativity an be stopped by harsh criticism. A person's freedom for creativity can be a very delicately balanced thing. The creative mental work of a sensitive violinist, a talented composer, a painter, or an architect cannot be "seen" in the traditional sense of the word. Crash in on creativity, and something may die! The birth of creativity may end in miscarriage. An individual piece of creativity means a great deal to an individual. A child can be planning a play with mother or dad. He may write the script in a crooked handwriting, he can bring in neighbor's children to be the bride and bridegroom or other characters, and he can direct the play. And as this creativity is in the midst of taking place, someone shouts out and begins to criticize, saying harsh, cutting things. Suddenly the sensitive young artist, or cook, or musician, or playwright, or poet, or gardener stops enjoying the creativity and the flushed excitement over the lovely unfolding of beauty, and crushed embarrassment floods him or her. Creativity has been stepped on, squashed." Edith Schaeffer (Common Sense Christian Living) So, it seems, God has work to do in me. It seems I have resolutions to make ,even if, they are not tied to New Years.
Deut. 32:46-47 "Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today which you shall command your children to be careful to observe---all the words of this law. For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess." Note the words I chose to highlight....They involve continuity. Another resolution shown to me via the book....And mostly via the Word of the Lord. Mrs. Schaeffer wrote out the synonyms and antonyms of continue, continuity, continuous and continually, I will give a few, I pray though that as I resolve to build with God's grace, more continuity into my character, that you too might read this list and grow...

The Lord our God is absolute continuity, there is absolute continuity in the Scriptures.....Is it in our lives? Does it shine for the world to see, or ....is our patience, love, grace, kindness, gentleness, faith, etc fall under the antonyms ??

I fail to have continuity in my life; our world is mostly made up of it's antonyms, but there are those, those who have it,. My resolution is to Be in the Word of God myself and with my children, to be humble, patient, kind, simple, peaceful, careful, observant, set, faithful, prayerful, LOVING continuously.. To be a wee bit more like Jesus, if not "just like" because this is my life, and it is NOT futile The Lord hath given this life unto me as a precious gift.
..... So what's your resolution this NEW YEAR? :) !
God bless each of you! You are a blessing and you matter REMEMBER
YOU ARE LOVED!
your sister in Christ Jesus
anika <>< It is now 2007 and I wrote that 2 years ago... I am sad and rebuked to say, the resolution you have laid before you, it is still indeed my "New Year's Resolution" . O that I might be fashioned more and more into the likeness of Christ Jesus. May my heart be soft, my soul ever after a better relationship, my mind in utter submission to the Revelation of the Holy Scriptures.
I still don't like these New Years resolutions....But resolve to grow, learn, pursue, persevere, persist, with regularity, continuity? Resolve....I do....
What about you?
What's your resolve?
