Falling Flat...

Have you ever..

just fallen FLAT on your face?

Has God ever just...

decided it was time to humble you,

break you,

or bring you to your knees...

Has HE in His ultimate wisdom

allowed for providence to lay you flat,

with no place to go

but up

and NO ablility to get there

with the exception of

complete and utter reliance upon HIM?

It looks a bit like this when you first open your eyes to see the road before you

and wipe the gravel from your face....

long time since you've been this close..

perhaps since you were a child and fell off a bike

perhaps since the bully's fist sent you to the ground

most of us don't get this view often...

it's a good place to start praying

the best place to start trusting

especially when you find you can barely move

and need help...

just keep looking

keep praying

before you know it

the view changes...

you begin to get a better idea of where you are..

where you need to go.

it's daunting though

it's a long long way

and the road only leads to a place that looks harsher

beautiful

but

more difficult still

a climb

a very very big climb

a mountain climb

and the way you feel RIGHT this minute

you aren't sure you can even get UP

let alone 5 feet.

the thought of getting to the end of the road

well...

THAT seems ..impossible

and add to that ... climbing mountains..

RIDICULOUS!

beyond THAT... you don't even know...

don't even want to BEGIN to imagine...

it's just

well, depressing...

and that means..

it's time to pray some more

because the road seems TOO daunting,

too exhausting

too long

finish praying and open once again...

you haven't changed position...

no,

YOUR position hasn't changed AT all...

just

your perspective

suddenly, it's all...

sweeping

and beautiful

and enchanting, with fields of wonder on either side

orchards and vineyards

and you actually

feel the breeze come up from the south...

you actually smell the freshness,

and feel filled with life

and light

and the day

and so it begins

you pray...

and one foot

falls

in front of another

keep going...

and don't look back...

just KEEP going

Jesus will pick you up

EVERY time you fall...

He has me

and my family

He's always kept His promises

Never leaving us

Never forsaking us...

and we..

we too, are just walking...

just up the road now..
