The old song goes that the
"the old man is snoring, that He's bumped his head on the bed, and didn't wake up in the morning...."
It refers to a drunk father, cruel and wasted, washed out and passed out, and perhaps dead. But as the children sing in the light of the day, in the cool of the rain, the taunting song does not awaken him...
So they sing, holding hands, dancing in a circle, their song, "It's raining, It's pouring", on and on.....
It has in our day come to mean hard times... I am sure you have heard folks say, "when it rains, it pours".... yet when saying this, to which mean "ol' father" do we refer?
well, things are raining here...
pouring actually...
a virtual tidalwave....tsunami perhaps..
Hard times hit all of us, and standing strong in the midst of them is't always easy; smiling through them, well, can be pretty near impossible.
Sometimes sitting is required, and bracing oneself is ok.
We don't all expect you to smile through a car crash, really, it's ALL RIGHT to not smile.
WHY does the world expect smiles through this?
Thankful we are getting through each day,
thankful we are still six persons
in tact
thankful we have a home to dwell in
a job for our Papa
some food in the fridge & pantry
we ARE thankful and aren't about to mock our gracious God with any taunting songs...
We don't see our God as a drunk
or as an Angry Father
We don't view Him as wasted or washed out or oblivious to our needs...
ignoring our pleas
He isn't mad at us...
we aren't crying in our cheerio's "Why us?"
everyone has hard times...
it's God who's seeing us THROUGH this trial
it's Christ who fills us with strength for the day
Hope for tomorrow...
Light for the way....
thanks for your prayers dear reader...
it matters...
each and every one
