Looks like a whoop, sounds like a whoop, is it THE WHOOP?

To whoop or not to whoop... That is what we wonder... as we wait...
Bens allergic cough got a bit ugly... Dr. thinks it could be, may be, might be, but then again might not be, the Whooping cough.... I had to go to the hospital to have him tested. As soon as the lady saw the prescription for the test, she backed away, sterilized her hands, handed me a mask and one for each of the children. We were then escorted to a "less" populated space to wait, and wait, we did not. Not more than 5 minutes. People ahead of us looked annoyed till they saw the masks. :) From then on anyone who came to speak to me wore a mask, and the testing went well. Ben hated it, and screamed, but was fine as soon as it was over. Well, sure he would be, they offered him applejuice. YUMMY!
Now we have carried on for the most part as if he just had a cough. We are not officially quaranteend or anything, but we are taking precautions.
How could he get it? Aren't the kids vaccinated. Ben has had this shot! But, well, now don't hold me to my stat's here but only like 80-85 % of vaccinations take. For people with poor immune systems, the chance of taking might be less. With all Ben's issues, one could hardly say he has a good immune system. :) And we seem to be having a WHOLE lot of Pertussis going around town... so we are waiting... yes waiting.
meanwhile Ben is coughing and coughing and coughing. When he isn't coughing, he seems ok...but then the cough comes, and it is awful...
more later.
I am really busy right now, busy waiting, cleaning toilets, doing laundry, and waiting....

Is is worse at night? I just had a friend tell me her little one has the croup which always gets worse at nighttime.....Just curious. But if whooping cough is going around, then the diagnosis is probably correct. Thought I would throw it out there. Keep us updated.

Congratulations on your sewing efforts. I have projects awaiting my attention, but have not had a chance to get at them much lately, even though it has been on my list for awhile!

Blessings,
Theresa

Oh dear friend, I do wish it were croup. That is still a tough one, my oldest would get it very frequently, well past the age children usually get it. Actually all three have had croup, but Cole had it the most. This unfortunately sounds nothing like croup, though it is actually a bit better from mid morning to around 1pm. Other than that it's pretty bad. And he still coughs in that time period, but not as bad. So we wait to see what the test results are...
motherhood isn't for wimps... isn't that what Maggie says? :)

Thanks for the congradulations on sewing. I really enjoyed it, and hope to learn this skill well enough to... make clothing and so forth.

I miss you. :)

You should have swiped the mask to wear out, nothing parts a crowd like a child in a mask.

Praying for dear Ben and the whole family.

For David's immune system we give him oodles of co-Q 10. It has helped him thus far.

Oh we totally took our masks with us, they rather wanted them on us till we were gone anyway :)

What is Co-Q 10?

It's a supplement. They use it a lot for heart health and it is an immune booster.

His genetisist had us start using it about 18 months ago, and when he goes off it he gets extremly sick.

I'll look for a good link for you.
