Going "gluten free" can be frightening..
not JUST for you..
but for those who love you.
They don't know WHAT to make IF you happen to come over..
Ordering out for Pizza
just ISn't an option any longer.
The truth is, for those of us with a gluten intolerance or celiac's
our family and friends really feel stiffled.
We however get over it pretty quick!
Why?
Because we are hungry.
We MISS things and are quick to adapt different foods to create new and exciting recipes.
Today many companies even do the same :)
When God closes that one door,
in this case the "gluten door"
He opens up WORLDS of wonderful foods
wonderful flours
and grains
we'd NEVER have tasted otherwise... :)
Our little family is JUST beginning on that path..
and so far, after the initial PAIN of it all, we are enjoying the new foods
and the feelings of beginning to heal, and FEEL better.
Coming up with tasty new treats is becoming a new hobby for The Princess and myself.
Here is one of mine :)
It is Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp! :)
Organic Strawberries & organic Rhubarb
(both from the freezer department)
and
Pamela's baking and Pancake mix
had a lovely recipe for crisp :)
so
I gave it a whirl
(using less sugar than suggested)
it was AMAZING!
We could NOT help but top it off with some terrific Ice Cream...
What kind?
Believe it or not...
Breyers...
no it isn't organic...
we couldn't afford it ALL to be organic...
BABY steps.
but their NATURAL VANILLA
is one of the few we found to not have all that junk in it.
just the facts mam.
just six pretty normal ingredients :)
baby steps...
(the kids had theirs with coconut yogurt )
going gluten free is really
simply delicious!
