Pizza NIGHT
Saturday NIGHT
That is WHAT we did!
We really like TJ's Sauce...
IT is yummy,
it is GMO free
and it is affordable..
We just add a hint more garlic,
a touch more oregeno
and BAM!
it's the perfect sauce for us :)
But now we enter unchartered territory...
VENTURE with us...
the world of the Gluten free crust...
Sure sure sure..
We could be mixing this flour and that
and be as cool as some of our Gluten free friends in the Blogging world..
BUT
WE have kids...
and a crazy life..
and before I venture into the world of
" DO everything myself
FROM SCRATCH
while raising 4 blessings"
i need
yes
NEED
to prepare my
back up plan.
that is what we are doing..
for the next few weeks
we will be trying out various mixes
and easy options for making
PIZZA dough gluten free
the easy way..
why
???????
so my kids
or hubby can make it too..
or..
if I get invited somewhere and the hostess askes..
I can recommend something EASY breezy :)
there really is a method to my maddness :)
These are the two brands we tried
NAMASTE and CHEBE
They were both good...
but..
well..
we liked Namaste a bit better..
finding it a bit more user friendly
and frankly
a bit tastier...
though hubby did not split the dough in half very well...
We were able to get 2 pizzas out of the Namaste see,
and hubby made one a really thin crust,
and one more..doughy..
we all liked the thin one better..
so ... that was really OUR problem and not the brands...
as far as flavor went.. we thought it needed some more..
like a hint of garlic or perhaps.. well... something..
but ...it was GOOD!
so was Chebe..
which you had to bake first and then put toppings on and then
bake again..
so it looked fabulous..
very impressive
but not as yummy...
we look forward to making it as bread sticks next time... :)
rolling it in garlic butter :)
we all thought it would be perfect
dunked in left over pizza sauce :)
Then there is cheese..
Cheese is an issue..
Lame cheese upsets some tummies here
so I have to buy good deli Mozzerella...
now for other tummies NO dairy seems to do..
that special someone is awaiting tests to find out if he too is allergic to Caseine
the milk protein
so often linked with Gluten sensitivities...
so for THAT special blessing
I bought
Daiya
it is NOT soy!
It is dairy free, lactose free, casein free
gluten and soy free
cholesterol free and a good source of calcium.
phew!
This is what it looks like!
It is made with things like tapioca, and arrowroot flours, with non gmo canola, and non gmo safflower oil, with coconut oil, and pea protein, some salt, vegan natural flavorings, inactive yeast, vegetable glycerin sunflower lecithin, calcium citrate, xanthan gum, citric acid and some vegan bacterial culures..
It is the first "NON CHEESE" we have bought that stays ON the pizza
and actually melts like cheese
and tastes good...
Pizza night was a success!
and everyone was glad...
and no one got sick..
and
mama was so thankful...
yes..
we can eat pizza again
